This is one short phrase from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by Shakespeare, from which we can conlude that women’s fond of jewelry is a tradition carried on in history. In the ancient times, women looked on jewelry as a symbol of identity and status. A woman who is tricked out in jewels, sending the message that she is a lady of noble birth. For at that time, jewelry is more precious compared with money. While it is sadly to notice the fact that the women wearing jewels in a patrilineal society are merely one of men’s accessories, like an item on display to flaunt his riches.
Till the modern society, people began to initiate the equality of both genders.When women are set free from the shackles of habit and become independent, the love for jewelry has survived. While, what jewelry means to a woman has changed a lot. Today,women love wearing jewelry due to their nature–the love of beauty and the yearns for the happy life. Jewelry is always prized by women because of its rareness and constant beauty and charm. Each kind of jewelry has different implication, for instance, the diamond represents eternal, and the agate symbolize the longevity.
All in all, I am considering that a good woman is as invariably beautiful and brilliant as jewelry. And maybe that’s why every woman enjoys jewels. If a woman doesn’t have a piece of jewelry in her life, we will feel sorry about her life. Therefore, please do not say that a woman will just like some useless things like jewels. In a woman’s eyes, jewelry is the very embodiment of their existance.
